More than 300 gymnasts showcased their favourite gymnastics skills at GFA in the Bay, held in Tauranga 5-6 August. Doubling in participation from its launch last year, one of the 15 clubs who attended was Central West Gymsports who came all the way from Australia to participate in the parkour section.
A collaboration from three Bay of Plenty Clubs—ARGOS Gymnastics Club, Impact Gymnastics Academy, and Te Puke Gymsports and Parkour—the aptly named GFA in the Bay celebrates all the best parts of recreational gymnastics, offering seven gym for all codes and catering for all ages, genders, and abilities. The event is also fantastic at promoting grass roots participation, interclub cooperation, networking, and most importantly being active and having fun doing it.
Though only in its second year, the event is known for its inviting and supportive environment, photo booth and dance parties, and the occasional spot prize for gymnasts, coaches, and spectators.
We look forward to seeing what the event will bring next year.
