Gymnastics is more than just a sport—it’s a community where young athletes can grow, develop confidence, and thrive in a safe environment. Across the country, gymnastics clubs are setting a benchmark for child safeguarding, ensuring that every participant feels secure and supported.

We would like to congratulate our 90 member clubs for their ongoing commitment to safeguarding. Thanks to their dedication to participant wellbeing, anyone walking into any one of our gymnastics clubs can trust that:
- Coaches are police vetted and safeguarding trained
- A designated safeguarding lead is in place
- A clear safeguarding policy guides club practices
These measures not only provide peace of mind for parents and participants but also solidify gymnastics as a leader in the sector for creating a safe space for young people. To maintain this high standard, clubs work with Safeguarding Children New Zealand for relevant training.
“Through their unwavering commitment, dedication, and active participation in child protection training, regional and local gymnastics clubs in Aotearoa New Zealand are not only safeguarding the future of young athletes but also setting a powerful example of responsibility and care within their communities,” congratulated Willow Duffy, CEO Safeguarding Children NZ.
Thank you to all our member clubs for your continued efforts in creating safe environments to enable positive gymnastics experiences for everyone.
