We were excited to have six coaches attend a FIG Level 3 Coaching Academy in Canberra last month. The Academy went for seven days and comprised of theory and practical lectures and exams. The coaches who attended were:

• Women’s Artistic Gymnastics: Mathew Rowley (North Harbour), Sarah Miller (North Harbour)
• Men’s Artistic Gymnastics: Dane Smuts (North Harbour MAG)
• Rhythmic Gymnastics: Isabel Godoy (Elements RG), Erica Thorby (Xtreme RhythmiX), Marina Kosenko (Xtreme RhythmiX)

A special congratulations to Erica Thorby who achieved the highest overall exam total for the RG course (93%) and also to Dane Smuts who achieved 94% in the MAG course.

The course also acted as the Senior Advanced Course for coaches. We are sure all coaches will go back to their gyms with lots of enthusiasm and knowledge gained from the course.

The next FIG Academy (level 2) will be held in Auckland in January.
