The Ollerup Academy in Denmark is home to one of the world’s most respected physical education and gymnastics programmes. Through the Gymnastics NZ Ollerup Scholarship scheme, young coaches aged 18–30 have the opportunity to spend six or twelve months immersed in training, personal development, and international learning.

We are delighted to announce the two successful scholarship recipients for 2027 are Capria Tamatea (Gisborne Gymnastics Club) and Teigan Lange (Thames GymSports).

Capria Tamatea – Gisborne Gymnastics Club

Capria is a former competitive WAG athlete (up to STEP 7) who has also competed in trampoline and tumbling (15+). She is passionate about coaching and plans to complete her junior coach qualification soon.

Alongside her gymnastics achievements, Capria has recently been named deputy head girl as she enters her final year of high school — a fantastic milestone.

From January to July 2027, Capria will join the power tumbling line at Ollerup and hopes to bring new skills and knowledge back to the Hawke’s Bay/Poverty Bay region and the wider gymnastics community.

Teigan Lange – Thames GymSports

Teigan is a current competitive tumbler who has broadened her experience by competing across three different codes at the NZ GymClub Challenge, showcasing her versatility and willingness to step outside her primary discipline.

She also took part in the recent Midlands youth development opportunity, where she gained valuable coaching insights that she has already begun applying to the classes she leads.

Teigan will be in her final year of college in 2026 before heading to Ollerup from August to December 2027, where she will also join the power tumbling line. She is already considering how she can give back and volunteer within gymnastics on her return.

We extend our warmest congratulations to Capria and Teigan and wish them every success in the year ahead. We look forward to following their Ollerup journeys in 2027.

Scholarships remain available for 2026 and 2027, with the next round of applications closing Friday 20 February.
