AER – 2018 World Championships Team

Anna RobertsonAerobics, Competitive Gymnastics, International, NZ Team Announcements

We are pleased to advise that the following athletes will take part in the upcoming Aerobics World Championships, and World Age Group Championships, in Guimaraes, Portugal, May 25-June 3:

  • Laura Furse (Triple A Aerobics) – World Championships
  • Brooke Davies (Aspire Aerobix) – World Age Group Championships

The athletes have been granted the status of ‘Hors Concours’, at the discretion of FIG, for those athletes who were unable to be listed in the competition draw. This means they will not compete in the championships but will perform. This is due to the fact that the submission of the entry fees to FIG, the sole responsibility of Gymnastics NZ, were not submitted before the ‘Drawing of Lots’. FIG regulations state that if entry fees are not received by them before the drawing of lots, athletes cannot be officially entered in the competition.

Gymnastics NZ unreservedly apologises to the athletes, their supporters and the wider aerobics community for this disastrous and avoidable situation. That both athletes have confirmed their desire to participate under these circumstances is a credit to their dedication, commitment, character and attitude in wanting to display their outstanding abilities on the world stage. We are sure you will join us in wishing both athletes all the best in their preparations for this significant event.
