On 24 September an announcement was made that expressions of interest for roles on the Gymnastics New Zealand (GNZ) Technical Committees were now open, this was followed on 30 September by a call for expressions of interest for roles on the GfA Sport Development Committee. Terms of reference, regulations, and role descriptors for the committees had all been reviewed and updated. Feedback has been received on these, including questions regarding who would form the Technical Appointments Panel responsible for vetting candidates for appointment and what was their mandate.
Technical Appointments Panel
The Board of GNZ has appointed the following individuals to form the Technical Appointments Panel:
- Tracey Diack (former GNZ Board member, previous General Manager – Sport Wellington, former Porirua Gymnastics)
- Gavin Snowsill (former MAG TC member, judge and member Kapiti Gymnastics)
- Danielle Halliday (former GNZ community sport lead, technical committee liaison)
- Emma Brookes (current GNZ Board, President Turn & Gymnastic Circle)
Mandate
The findings of the Independent Review into Gymnastics New Zealand call for the expertise and experience of technical committees to be taken ‘full advantage’ of. The renew and refresh opportunity presented by the EOI process sits comfortably alongside this directive. To do so, the panel recognises that it must look at applications considering these needs and those applicants who will present the best opportunity to meet the challenges and opportunities presented by the review’s findings.
In announcing the appointments panel and its intent outlined above, the EOI period will be extended to Monday 25 October. This is to give the best possible opportunity for candidates who wish to be part of this opportunity for change to consider applying.
I would encourage you once again to think seriously about how you, or someone you know, could support this vital function.
Regards,
Tony Compier
