The Eastland Port Gisborne Trampoline Club held it’s Gizzy Cup gala dinner and display evening on 27 November. Not even a 5.1 magnitude earthquake could shake the enthusiasm of a 150 strong audience. The Gizzy Cup is a form of competition where members of the audience bid for the opportunity to sit and ‘judge’ competitors based purely on what they see and how much they like it. Bidding for the judges’ seats was indeed intense, and subsequent scores a diverse range of opinion. The night also involved a special auction, with items all generously donated by local businesses. Olympian Dylan Schmidt shared his Rio experience with the crowd and GymSports NZ CEO Tony Compier presented Doug Callahan with a recognition certificate, in acknowledgment of the Queen’s Service Medal that he received earlier this year. A great night was had by all and thousands of dollars were raised towards the new tumble track.
- Gizzy Cup podium – Blake Costley took first, Finn Vette second, Kierran Tuhi third, presented by Dame Bronwen Holdsworth.
- Dylan Schmidt being interviewed about his Rio experience.
- Tony Compier (GymSports NZ CEO) and Doug Callahan.
- Kierran Tuhi took a break from retirement for the Gizzy Cup.
