About the 2026 Squad Structure
We have refreshed the naming of national squads to align with the Gymnastics NZ tour opportunities framework. Squad selection criteria have also been updated to reflect eligibility for performance and aspiring tours, fulfilling a key recommendation of the performance pathway strategy: using national squad selection as the first step toward international touring.
Athletes will still be required to trial and meet minimum ranking scores for any tour selection.
The aspiring challenger squad recognises athletes who have not yet met aspiring squad criteria but have been identified as having strong potential to do so in the coming year.
Congratulations to all selected athletes, their coaches, and their clubs. Your hard work and commitment continue to strengthen the MAG performance pathway across Aotearoa.
