FIG Academy Kicks Off

Anna RobertsonEducation, FIG Academy, International

The FIG Level 2 Academy for artistic gymnastics (WAG and MAG) kicked off last night. We are excited to host participants from Australia, Philippines and New Zealand and extend a huge welcome to our FIG international experts – Derick Scholtz (South Africa), Tim Lees (Australia), Stacey Umeh (Australia) and Mini Rodriguez (Chile).

It is the mission of the FIG Coach Academy Programme to provide a prioritised, customised and standardised coach education system for the development of competitive gymnastic disciplines worldwide, based upon principles of sport science, health, current training best practice and the developing child.

The Academy courses are of seven-day duration and conclude with a comprehensive theoretical and practical examination. FIG appoints international Experts and invite other federations to attend. For New Zealand coaches, FIG Level 2 is equivalent to Senior Coach qualification.

Keep an eye on our Facebook page throughout the Academy for more photos.
