Gymnastics NZ is pleased to announce the inclusion of Tumbling and Individual Aerobics in the gymnastics programme at AIMS Games 2018, hosted by ARGOS GymSport Tauranga. Given the focus on retention in Gymnastics NZ’s Strategic Plan, Anchor AIMS GAMES – International Sporting Championships (AIMS Games) is an important and high profile event.

AIMS targets an age group (11-13 year olds) that coincides with a significant drop off in sports participation, not only for gymnastics but across all sports. With the inclusion of Tumbling and Individual Aerobics, all of the gymnastic codes are now profiled at AIMS providing the opportunity for students to compete in and experience a range of gymnastic activity. Both Tumbling and Individual Aerobics are great options for Clubs looking to improve their member retention.

Details on the new programmes will be in the 2018 Schools Festival Manual to be released in February.
