#ManahauMoment Winners Celebrate the Joy and Connection of Gymnastics

Anna Robertsone-News

Two stories celebrating fun, connection, and generosity within the gymnastics community have been selected as the winners of our #ManahauMoment giveaway, supported by GymStuff.

Launched in the lead-up to the 2026 XP Gymnastics Nationals, #ManahauMoment invited clubs, athletes, and families to share the moments that make gymnastics special – not just the scores and results, but the friendships, support, joy, and experiences that happen along the way.

Entries were judged across three areas: joy, connection, and story and how well each entry captured the positive experiences gymnastics creates, brought people together, and communicated why that moment mattered.

First place — Turn and Gymnastic Circle

Our winning entry came from Turn and Gymnastic Circle, with a video capturing their STEPs gymnasts and coaches enjoying a Commonwealth Games-inspired fun day.

After weeks of working hard through their competition season, the gymnasts were given the chance to put their routines aside and simply have some fun together. Their own creative take on Commonwealth Games sports brought plenty of laughter, friendly competition, and teamwork, with the coaches joining in too.

What stood out was the way the entry captured joy and connection in action. Gymnasts cheered each other on, encouraged their teammates and shared an experience that reminded us that gymnastics is about much more than training and competition.

As the club put it in their entry, gymnastics is also about “the friendships, the fun and the moments we share along the way.”

Second place — Gisborne Gymnastic Club

Second place went to Gisborne Gymnastic Club, whose entry told a very different but equally meaningful story of connection.

Their video showed the club’s sprung floor being packed up, ready to be loaned to another gymnastics club free of charge for the next few years.

The footage captured the practical side of that generosity, but it was the story behind the moment that stood out with one club choosing to share equipment it wasn’t currently using so another gymnastics community could benefit from it.

It was a strong example of clubs supporting each other and creating opportunities for more gymnasts to enjoy the sport.

In Gisborne’s words: “We believe our community is stronger when we lift each other up.”

Congratulations to both of our winners, and thank you to everyone who shared a #ManahauMoment with us throughout the campaign.

A big thank you also to GymStuff for supporting #ManahauMoment and providing the two mini apparatus prizes for our winning entries.

The giveaway may be over, but #ManahauMoment isn’t. We’d love our gymnastics community to keep noticing, celebrating, and sharing the moments that bring joy, connection, and meaning to our sports, whether that’s a breakthrough, a friendship, a teammate cheering someone on, a coach making a difference, or simply a moment that makes you smile.

Keep sharing your #ManahauMoments on social media and tagging @gymnasticsnz so we can celebrate them with you.
