Gymnastics Nelson is based at the back of Nelson Intermediate School in a facility called the Mosey Grayson Memoria Gymnastics Centre, although unique in shape and size, the club recognised that to move would be out of there scope however, being faced with being required to be compliant or moving out the club jumped into action.
Over the past two years the club have applied for grant funding through Lotteries, Mainland Foundation, Pub Charity Limited, The Lion Foundation, Foodstuffs South Island Community Trust, Te Puna Tahua Lottery Grants Board, New Zealand Community Trust, Rata Foundation, One Forty One Foundation, Pub Charity Limited, Harcourts Community Trust, Nelson City Council Hapori Team and did a considerable amount of fundraising and community connection to generate donations. The project is now complete and the club has officiality received their letter of compliance.
Along with compliance the club wanted to be able to make their facility accessible to all by installing a lift on the outside of their building. Through the lift install and support from Tu Manuwa and Halberg Foundation the club now has a program running for people living with disabilities and are running a former refugee and migrant program, and Forever Active gymnastics/movement for 55+.
