Help Shape the Future of Gymnastics Events in Aotearoa

We are undertaking a review of our events calendar across both recreational and competitive pathways. As part of this work, we are establishing an Events Review Advisory Group and are seeking expressions of interest from members of the gymnastics community who are passionate about enhancing our events system.
This group will play a key role in helping Gymnastics NZ test ideas, gain clarity, and gather insights from a broad range of perspectives as we work to ensure our event offerings better align with strategic priorities, support participation growth, and improve the overall experience for athletes, clubs, and communities.

About the Events Review Advisory Group
The Events Review Advisory Group will:
• Provide input and advice on key issues linked to the event review.
• Help test thinking and support GNZ to get clarity on the real-world needs of our community in regard to events.
• Represent a broad cross-section of the gymnastics community including both recreational and competitive interests.
Importantly, this is an advisory group, not a working group, meaning members will not be expected to develop or implement solutions, but to offer feedback, advice, and help guide the review from a community lens.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re seeking expressions of interest from people across the gymnastics community who bring relevant experience and perspectives. This includes:
• Coaches, judges, athletes, or administrators involved in competitive or recreational gymnastics.
• Club event hosts or administrators involved in planning or delivering events.
• People who can offer insights into school gymnastics and social competitive formats.
• Individuals with a passion for strengthening participation and retention through positive and safe events.
• Those with strong relationships or practical knowledge of regional needs and realities.
We welcome diversity and encourage people from all backgrounds and regions to apply. Gymnastics NZ staff and technical committee representatives will also be involved in the group, and there may be flexibility to include additional voices e.g. from School Sport NZ or other experts where needed.
Time Commitment
The Advisory Group will meet approximately 3 to 4 times between August and November 2025, with sessions held virtually.
