Exciting new beginnings for Gore Gymnastics Club

Anna Robertsone-News

A couple of new beginnings this year for Gore Gymnastics Club with a permanent gymnastics space and full transition to the GNZ Gym for All (GfA) apparatus programme.

Their new home now at The Base, is ideally located with two other health and fitness businesses – a fitness gym and osteopath and massage specialists.

“Our new permanent set up not only eliminates volunteer fatigue—we all know the daunting task of setting up and packing away equipment each session—but being next to two other health and fitness businesses provides a new exposure for us to the wider Gore community” says Samantha Williams, committee member (charged to set up the GfA changeover) and safeguading lead.

This term, the club has also fully transitioned to the GfA apparatus programme, with thanks to some mentoring from Trina Melrose who has had significant impact on the GfA programmes already being delivered in the Southland-Otago region.

“To help our coaching teams, Trina came into the first sessions of the term to help grade each gymnast and help with lesson planning, and coaches are now confidently delivering the GfA skills associated with each level” adds Samantha.

“We are excited to start building routines in the coming terms and providing opportunities for our GfA members to showcase their skills and development at up and coming GfA events.”

“We are very grateful to our Relationship Manager Kathryn Searle for all her support through these big changes for our club.”
