2017 WAG STEPs Update

Anna Robertsone-News, Education, Member Updates, Women's artistic gymnastics

The WAG coach/judge workshops will be rolling out across the country in March detailing the new WAG requirements. The aim of these workshops is to upskill Women’s Artistic Gymnastics coaches and judges involved with the WAG STEPs Programme at a lower and intermediate level. There will be two workshop sessions available; STEPs 1-3 and STEPs 4-6. The workshops will cover skills/routine requirements with specific coaching and judging information relating to the teaching of the new WAG STEP Programme with the aim of having a consistent message delivered throughout the country.

For anyone planning to judge in 2017, the coach/judge workshops are a requirement of the judging qualification for 2017. Elementary (new or those revalidating) are required at minimum to attend the STEPS 1-3 workshop, whilst Junior, Senior and Brevet judges will need to attend both workshops in addition to the relevant judging course.

Please check the education calendar for course details.

On Sunday 19 February, the presenters of the coach/judge workshops, judging and coaching courses, plus other key personnel attended a presenter workshop. The presenters went through the routines in detail so that the same message is repeated across the country. It was wonderful to have so many SDC members, coaches and judges working together on the new programme. We are excited to see the new routines unveiled.
