We are pleased to introduce the members of our newly established Parkour Working Group.
Formed for a two-year term, this group has a clear purpose: to develop a competitive pathway for parkour within the Gymnastics NZ framework. While parkour already has a strong recreational following in New Zealand, there are currently no formal competitive opportunities available.
As an emerging discipline within FIG, parkour now features World Cup events internationally—highlighting the importance of building structured opportunities for New Zealand athletes.
The group will prioritise the development of a competitive programme and the resourcing of future parkour events.
The Parkour Working Group members are:
- Chair: Sarah Jane Hudson (Hutt Valley Gymnastics)
- Stephen Van Huysen (Howick Gymnastics)
- Andy Tan (NHG)
- Ruslan Gibbs (Dunedin Gymnastics Academy)
- Nadia Wharepapa (Te Puke Gymsports)
- Ranan Feit (Aspiring Gymsports)
Congratulations to all members on their appointments, and thank you for helping shape the future of parkour in Aotearoa.
