As announced in the AGM notice, nominations are now open for both an elected board member position and the community honours awards to be announced at the upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM), to be held virtually at 7:00pm on Thursday 11 June 2026.

Community Honours
People who have made a big impact across our sports and community can be nominated for the following Gymnastics NZ honours awards:
- National Service Award – recognises outstanding service to gymnastics at a national level, exceeding the criteria for a club service award.
- Meritorious Award – acknowledges significant contributions to gymnastics that warrant recognition beyond a service award.
- Life Membership – awarded to individuals who have demonstrated exceptional and sustained service to gymnastics in New Zealand. Please note: nominees must have previously received a Meritorious Award to be eligible.
Nomination Guidelines
- Nominations must be submitted by member clubs.
- All nominations must use the official nomination form and be completed in full.
- Life Membership nominations must be accompanied by a curriculum vitae and with the support of at least two referees or two written references.
- Nominations must be sent to the Gymnastics NZ national office for the attention of the CEO and received no later than 5:00pm, Tuesday 12 May. Late nominations will not be considered.
Full eligibility criteria can be found in rule 9 of the General Regulations.
All nominations will be reviewed by the honours committee. Those that meet the criteria outlined in the Constitution will be recommended to delegates for consideration at the upcoming AGM.
If you need assistance preparing a nomination, please contact your relationship manager.
Elected Board Member
The Board Appointments Panel (BAP) is calling for nominations for one elected board member position on the Gymnastics New Zealand Board. The election will take place at the 2026 AGM.
The current elected board member Bruce Horwood is eligible for re-election and has indicated his intention to stand for a further term.
Key nomination requirements:
- Nominations must be made by member clubs or organisations.
- All nominations must use the official nomination form and be completed in full.
- Nominations must be submitted to the national office for the attention of the Chair, Board Appointments Panel.
- Nominations must be received no later than 5:00pm Tuesday 12 May 2026.
- Late nominations will not be accepted.
All nominations will be assessed by the Board Appointments Panel, who will review candidates’ governance experience, strategic capability, and understanding of sport and the gymnastics community. The Panel will then make a recommendation to delegates at the AGM.
AGM Format and Structure
The 2026 AGM will be held at 7:00pm on Thursday 11 June via Zoom using a traditional meeting format. This will allow members to see other attendees, rather than the webinar-style format used for the previous two meetings. We heard clearly from members that visibility of fellow participants was important, and we are pleased to accommodate this change.
Please note that all voting will be undertaken electronically in advance of the meeting, with further details to be provided closer to the AGM.
As a statutory meeting, the AGM follows a formal agenda and governance requirements, including maintaining quorum. As the meeting is held online, the intention is to keep proceedings focused and efficient, with a target duration of under one hour. While there will be an opportunity to submit questions in advance, the formal structure and technology limitations mean the AGM cannot operate as a broad open forum.
Gymnastics NZ always welcomes member feedback and there are many ways to engage throughout the year, including our regular online hui, through your relationship manager, or directly with the chief executive. Our annual club survey will also be circulated in April.
If there is interest, we would be happy to consider holding an additional online hui ahead of the AGM, with the board chair, chief executive, and senior staff available for open discussion and member questions.
To help assess interest, please email the office by Thursday 2 April if you would like to attend a session of this nature.
