FIG Academy Level 2 Academy – WAG and MAG (updated 8 December 2016)
gymnastics coaching handstandWe are pleased to announce that the Level 2 FIG Academy to be held in January has been approved by FIG and will take place from January 9-16 in Auckland. Participants will attend from New Zealand, Australia and the Philippines. We are excited to have international FIG Experts in attendance to facilitate the academy – Derick Scholtz (Academy Leader), Tim Lees, Andres Llanos Geradino and Stacey Umeh.

This course will be held at the same time as GymSchool at the Gymsport & Recreation Centre at Bruce Pulman Park.

FIG Level 2 is equivalent to the GymSports NZ Senior Coach course. The Academy courses are of seven-day duration and conclude with a comprehensive theoretical and practical examination. FIG will also be inviting other countries to attend this event.

Coaches within the Auckland region must bring at least one demonstrator with them to attend the practical training sessions and the practical exam.

To be eligible to attend, coaches must:

  • Hold a minimum of Junior Advanced Coach
  • Be coaching with senior level athletes
  • Minimum 18 years

Please note that these are the only senior courses to be offered before the 2017 NZ Gymsports Championships.
