WAG Workshops and Performance Camps

Two WAG workshops were held on Sunday 21 January in Christchurch. The first workshop was a WAG STEP 1 – 4 beam and floor workshop on how the routines should be performed. The workshop was open to all coaches and judges working with STEPS 1-4 and was led by Hannah Prout, who also choreographed the routines. A Physical Abilities Testing (PAT) certification workshop followed, led by WAG Performance Director Mary Wright.  Mary went through the required physical abilities testing from the WAG Development Programme.

Coaching workshops were held covering injury prevention, coach safety, beam and floor ballet preparation, as well as apparatus and skill specific topics. Personal coaches of athletes attending the performance camps received automatic enrolment on the workshops, with several other coaches (without athletes at camp) in attendance as well. The workshops were a wonderful opportunity for continuous learning development to enhance athlete skill development and well-being.

These workshops have all been held in conjunction with the WAG Junior and Senior Performance Camps.
