SDC Review Update

Anna RobertsonCEO / Board Updates, e-News

As the date of 1 August has passed, it is timely to give an update as to the status of the SDC review process. The Terms of Reference and Rules and Regulations covering SDC’s have reached the point of final draft, and have been sent to the SDC Peer Review Group for assessment and comment. Both of these documents are due back by the end of this week. The Role Descriptors for each SDC position are reaching the point of final draft, and should be sent to the Peer Review Group by the end of this week. All documents will then be sent to the current SDC’s for review, during the week of August 20. Allowing for a week’s response time this should see all documentation completed by the end of August, and a new selection process conducted during September.

Whilst this is essentially one month behind the date expressed at the AGM, it is important that at this critical phase, the process is not rushed to meet a prescribed deadline. Documents from a number of international gymnastics federations have been reviewed for the purposes of ensuring gymnastic best-practice in this area. A number of domestic National Sporting Bodies have also been consulted to give a wider perspective on how volunteer expert resources are engaged in this space. As such, conducting this review has been an exhaustive and time-consuming process that we are pleased is nearing its conclusion.

We thank you for your patience and look forward to engaging you in delivering the next chapter of this vital volunteer function.

Kind regards,

Tony Compier
